If YOU have been a tenant for at lease 2, or 5 years, depending on when YOU started YOUR tenancy, then YOU may qualify to buy YOUR home from YOUR landlord at a price significantly lower than the actual market value.  To find out if YOU do qualify to buy YOUR home and also find out he price that YOU can buy your house for, YOU will need to submit a Right to Buy application to YOUR landlord.   Assuming you do have the Right to Buy YOUR home, YOUR landlord will arrange for a valuation to be done on the property.  Remember YOU are going to be given a discount on the price at which your landlord values your property - YOU are not going to pay the full market price.  When the valuation has been done YOUR landlord will then apply the discount and calculate the price at which YOU can purchase YOUR home.  YOUR discount, and the price YOU pay, will be based on the length of your tenancy.  Depending on where YOU lie YOUR discount could be as much as £38000.  That's a massive saving on the actual value of the house.
